Re: TLG 8126 Codex of Aihrde (Preorder)

So if we're satisfied with the $40 we originally gave during the 2012 pre-order, do we need to do anything at all in Kickstarter, or do you have a record of those pre-orders and we can just expect shipment when everything is done?

Re: TLG 8126 Codex of Aihrde (Preorder)

No response here or to my email. I wish I could say I was surprised, but it's this level of customer service that has moved me away from Troll Lord Games over the years... Sad, I know, but there's only so much we can put up with. No matter how great the game, loyalty is a two-way street and I've oft...

Re: TLG 8126 Codex of Aihrde (Preorder)

So, I unexpectedly remembered ordering the Codex of Aihrde this morning and wondered whatever became of it. Since I haven't been on the forums in quite a while, I first checked through my old email and, sure enough, found my receipt email indicating my pre-order: On MAY 19, 2012! Over 2 years and 3 ...

Re: Book of Familiars Preorder concluded

You've been fortunate, Tree. I haven't been as lucky. And, again, I have to emphasize that this isn't a shot purely at the Trolls - the whole pre-order/crowdsourcing thing has become the industry standard, it seems - where "industry" is in reference to "small RPG publishers." I don't think we'll see...

Re: Book of Familiars Preorder concluded

I try not to be too much of a complainer, but I feel this needs to be said. Back when Book of Familiars was first announced, I was very excited about it. It sounded like a great project which would provide some really fun and interesting options for all classes and players. When Book of Familiars we...

He should have done what a lot of other judges do...go soft on situations when high society breaks the law significantly. How many judges get punished for that? Wrong area of law... Also, taking taxpayer $ without working is a near criminal. The guy shouldn't be a judge. He lacks ... judgement. htt...

So Kim's paladin has hit 9th level, or is about to, and he gets Smite Evil. Reading the ability we were all stunned by its actual weakness. Once a day, he can use this ability, and smite evil for +his level in damage and charisma modifier in to hit rolls. That's not what was intended in the origina...

Glad to hear you're enjoying the Mac so far. My dad switched to Mac a few years ago after a lifetime of Windows use and never looked back. His opinion now is that he can't imagine ever owning a Winows PC again. I have used Macs exclusively for my personal computer.

Re: My game begins today!

Well we just got characters created yesterday. Some who wanted to play weren't there so next session will be when we start playing. Out of curiosity what should the average ac of a level 1 paladin be? I let him shop with his gold and he managed to get an armor class of 27. Should that be possible? ...

Re: Kickstarters and Preorders, The Bane of Present-Day Game

Those are some good suggestions, Dracyian. As a project manager by trade, it seems to me that every kickstarter and every pre-order is a project, and some sort of effort should be put into managing them. I think what we're seeing are creative-types (fellow gamers, authors, etc.) who produce lovely c...

Kickstarters and Preorders, The Bane of Present-Day Gamers

Time to share feelings about the Kickstarter / Pre-Order world we gamers have come to find ourselves in. Used to be that a game producer made a game and then made it available for sale. Those who didn't have big budgets for print runs would make them available via POD, like Lulu. In the past couple ...

Re: Castles and Crusades Rules are Incomplete

This is one thing that I hope TLG does address before D&D Next is released because I can see players jumping ship from C&C to Next for a more 'complete' game. You've raised a very good point here. It was 3/3.5E and, even more so, 4E that have really given "3rd party" games like C&C a chance to flou...

No, I don't go that far. I will not roll dice at the same table where one of those ten-pound books sits. I do not like the rules, feats, ways around the rules, rules about skipping rules, etc..... The point here is that if it is under the incorporeal listing then it should have the same listing for...

Re: Castles and Crusades Rules are Incomplete

Snoring Rock, I get where you're coming from, but I agree with mmbutter. The point of rules light is to allow for GM rulings and adjudication, rather than documenting every condition and situation. Also, in regard to the specific matter of "incorporeal" creatures, every entry for an incorporeal crea...
