Re: News for the new PHB?

I have to say, while I will buy it for sure (I have a 5th print book and the 7th print in pdf only) I do not like very much the new cover.

Re: Why the secondary skills make checks without level?

I have a good long detailed list of all this, happy to email it to you, just PM me for my email address. PM sent Prime gets you a +6, non-class abilities cannot be accomplished or should suck... class abilities go with class and thus with levels... non-class abilities therefore do not go with level...

Why the secondary skills make checks without level?

If the usual ability check must add the character level to the dice roll, why the CKG says that for the secondary skills this should be avoided? "A secondary skill provides a character basic knowledge in that area. To this end they gain a +1 on any attribute check associated with the skill. The...

Minor/Major Dark Chaos Spell

This spell creates two tendrils from the Illusionist hands. These tendrils attack and, saving throws permitting, do automatic damage. In your opinion these attacks take an action? Or while the tendrils attack the Illusionist can make something else? I think that an action should be spent to "po...

Giant Scorpions in C&C?

I was delving in a 90s AD&D adventure module, and one of encounters included a giant scorpion. So I get the M&T manual to check the C&C statistics but... it's me or there is not the giant scorpion as a monster? It seems weird because it is almost a classic!

I have never had or even heard of a player with that level of detail for equipment. Hope the girls will put lesser attention once the first levels are behind... After a couple of PCs are killed while darning their socks the importance of stocking thimbles will lose its luster...

Thanks a lot :) very kind of you to write these detailed examples.
A precious suggestion, I think I will definitively use some of these hints. This way the player will feel her efforts (that she wants to describe me so in detail) are worthy.

but it's simple record keeping and easy to implement. Badly damaged weapons or armor can also have their maximum damage / AC bonus reduced until repaired as well. Might not be for everyone, but it IS one method to use That's another good take. It seems to me that there's an optional rule in the CKG...

Wastage rolls are triggered by: 1) PC rolls a 1 on an attack. 2) Enemy attacker rolls a 20 on an attack. 3) If the PC is successfully attacked by an especially powerful creature or a creature with an especially caustic attack (acid, fire, etc). 4) Prolonged or excess exposure to an extreme environm...

These last months I have "initiated" a friend of mine to the pen&paper RPGs. She has been so happy about it, that succeeded in convincing to play my girlfriend too (a feat I've never been able to do)! She comes from a purely online experience, being a Warcraft player, and I thought she...

Re: Someone has "Adtherpe's Natural Materials"?

Ok thanks, it seems fun :) Rules for finding plants remember me about the old Wilderness Survival Guide, 1st Ed. Good book that one. If you have the original AD&D DMG pages 220 - 221 contains a fairly exhaustive list of herbs, spices and vegetables along with their possible uses and/or powers. ...

Re: Someone has "Adtherpe's Natural Materials"?

I've read it thanks :)
Still, I'm not sure of what kind of product really is. It is interesting for a druid character, for an example? And a wizard?
There are just suggestions for novice Keepers or there are new rules and tables useful for everyone?

Someone has "Adtherpe's Natural Materials"?

I have seen this new booklet (with the new C&C fonts).

Someone has it yet? I don't understand, reading the description, if it is a product that has a lot of tables only or if it is something that has some new interesting rules for druids, clerics etc.

Are there new contents in the CKG 3rd Printing?

I have read a review of the new CKG. It seems the real changes are just cosmetics and the addictions are purely represented by just new art.

Someone has bought it yet? I was hoping for some new contents and perhaps a review of some of the old material.

Most up to date printings?

So if I'm not wrong the new PHB printing is the 8th and we are awaiting it, right?
Then there is the 5th printing of the CKG and the 5th printing of the M&T book. Am I correct?

Re: Rules that not in C&C. Could they be part of it?

Somewhere I red that the SIEGE system starts to "break" around the 10th level. But that is true for any d20 based system. And it was perhaps true even for the original D&D/AD&D system.

I don't even ask myslef the question. In Mystara the player characters can become Immortals at the end of their careers. In Mystara again, the Court Wizards, Terari, is a 20th level Wizard, so we can say that's a remarkable achievement. I don't think characters should become gods, I prefer to see th...
