Re: CZ Upper Works question
The Trolls are going to look into this after Gary Con. No matter what the resolution, I'm grateful that they responding to my email and will spend their time trying to resolve it.

Re: CZ Upper Works question
I definitely should have checked all of my CZ stuff upon arrival BUT immediately enshrined it on my shelves of geek stuff. Lesson learned!

CZ Upper Works question
Hey, This is a question for the Trolls-in-Chief of TLG. I realize that I'm probably out of luck BUT I just looked through my CZ: The Upper Works boxed set and see that the illustration/map booklet is missing. If you have any in stock would it be possible to get that booklet shipped or a pdf of the b...

Re: C&C Newb
Hey Zardnaar,
A quick (and incredibly easy) fix to C&C, if you don't like primes, is to ditch them. Set the Challenge Base for all attribute checks, including saves, to 15 (or 13 if you're feeling generous).
To give humans a boost, give them a +1 to all attribute checks.
Happy gaming!

Re: Tertiary Attributes
Hey Lobo. Have you ever thought of ditching primes altogether (very much for the reason that you pointed out)? Just set the Challenge Base to 15 for all checks and give humans a +1 bonus to all attribute checks (to make up for the loss of an additional prime attribute). It was my starting point for ...

Re: My houserule site is moving
Thanks Chris, I'm thinking of printing both the last versions of the PHB and the DMG, and I'd like to have printed them both when they're finished. The PHB is done, and it's terrific, and I'm waiting also for the DMG to be completed. By the way, will there be also a Monster Manual? In any case, wha...

Re: My houserule site is moving
I agree with Treebore... go with the Monstrous Manual and convert the critters on-the-fly. Just subtract the old AD&D armor class from 20 to get the new AC (so that negative armor classes are added to 20). Movement rates can be used as is (a Mv of 9" translates to 9 squares/hexes or 45' of ...

Re: My houserule site is moving
Thanks Galannor. Right now a proof-reader is going through the DMG for me (an unpaid proof-reader who did an awesome job on my PHB)... but has been too busy to work on it lately. The book is pretty-much done. The only issues with it are multitudinous typos, missing page references (which I'll work o...

N1 has great roleplaying opportunities in it (paranoid townsfolk, brainwashed cultists, a mayor at his wit's end). Good stuff.

Re: Treebore's and Other's Houserules for CnC
Hey Mordrene, In my first draft of houserules I used a 10/15 split for prime/non-prime checks, which worked well and didn't make human characters feel cheated (as the extra prime is their only racial ability). In my current ruleset, which doesn't use primes, I give humans a +1 to all ability checks ...

Re: Treebore's and Other's Houserules for CnC
I found that ditching primes sped up the game and made level/ability modifiers all-the-more important. Some of my players didn't care for primes because the prime bonus far outstripped those for ability score modifiers... which felt kinda wrong to them. To me having a flat target number of 15 (d20+m...

Thanks!
The DMG is moving along (I currently have a volunteer proofreader going through it page-by-page) and is being updated regularly. Other than some page # reference and a table of contents it's pretty much ready to go.

Re: Treebore's and Other's Houserules for CnC
Hey Adaen, I've had my houserules floating around the internet for a while and I've actually gotten feedback from a few groups who use and like them. Check them out at my C&C page . My Player's Handbook is done, though I'm always tinkering with it. My DMG is 90% done... but is still being proofr...

Re: What have you added to your C&C?
My house rules have been floating around for a while... getting revised and expanded over time. Basically they're a mish-mosh of C&C, AD&D and 3rd edition with a heavy emphasis on making C&C more compatible with AD&D. One of the big changes I've made from C&C is removing primes....

I ditched primes, set the Challenge Base to 15 across the board, and gave humans a +1 bonus to all attribute checks. It works really well.

Re: The Fighter...
I give fighters the ability to use Combat Dominance against all foes with hit dice or levels equal to or less than 1/2 those of the fighter. As such, a 4th level fighter could use the ability against all foes with 2 or less hit dice. I also give them a +2 to make and resist disarm attempts, and a +1...

Re: My C&C houserules and character sheet are updated/revise
I'd use them as is (with some tweaks given below), unless they have been converted to C&C in one of TLG's monster books. For creatures with class levels, I quickly convert them over. ============================== Tweaks: 1] Double the move rate (I use 10 second rounds) 2] Allow magic weapons to...

Re: My C&C houserules and character sheet are updated/revise
Neat! Have you updated Unearthed Arcana as well? I'm still working on converting my UA to a complete DMG. Right now it's 85% done. I just have to finish the siege warfare section, tack on the dungeon creation section and add random encounter charts. It's taken me a LONG time but it is coming along.

Re: My C&C houserules and character sheet are updated/revise
I've consolidated some of the class abilities (i.e. acrobatics and escape artist are folded into acrobatics, open locks and remove traps are combined as disable device) and tweaked Turn Undead. Other than that it's still a mashup of C&C and AD&D that ditches the use of primes and sets the ba...

Re: My C&C houserules and character sheet are updated/revise
It's a pretty big overhaul but is strongly based on C&C and works perfectly with C&C monsters (just ditch their primes and chuck in ability bonuses where they seem appropriate) and adventures. In short it's C&C minus primes plus AD&D flavoring (including art). The homepage for the C&...

Re: ranger prime
I'd let him swap the class-based prime from STR to CON... to reflect the endurance and toughness needed to live in the wilds, endure the elements and be on near-constant patrol. His other primes would then be WIS & DEX. To be honest, if he is a friend and a good roleplayer, I'd let him swap STR ...
