Re: Zero Magic C&C
Its going to depend on what you actually mean by "no magic." Is that "no casting by the player characters?" Is it "there is no magic, at all?" To a medieval person, even something as innocuous as a headache could be magical in origin - some vicious demon come from the blackest pits to avenge a sin c...

OK, here are a few more... Purloin Powder - by sprinkling this fine particle on an area or object, it becomes enchanted so that, if the would-be thief finds something worth taking, they may then think of it only, secure it on their person or otherwise remove it from its current location, and then ma...

Re: Castle Keeper's Guide
Another thing that just occurred to me concerning the new printing of the CKG. Have they finally added a Harlot table? Of all the egregious omissions, that has to be the worst. The AD&D 1e DMG has one, along with Gary's awesome clarifications of the different kinds of harlots. The Siege Engine need...

New Magic Items [Not Converted Yet]
These were written with AD&D in mind and have not been C&C-ized yet but shouldn't be too hard should someone want to. I admit there are likely flaws and they can be quite powerful. Oil of Lucubration - this small vial containing enough oil for 1d4+2 uses restores expended magical energy similarly to...

I was just considering posting a little ditty on Ayuda gobomancers and their use of cyberware. Things like liquid flesh to change shape, size, and conceal themselves... or full spectrum eyes to see in the dark, through illusions, and such.

I can't. I can barely moderate it, not touch board configuration - that takes actual admin access. What I MEAN is that whomever has the POWER should do that. If you are a Mod you SHOULD be able to contact an Admin. No? No. I can contact just as many persons as you can. Besides, I don't even know wh...

Re: The Monsters know what they are doing
I also greatly enjoy using little monsters, like goblins, to remind players that the fantasy world also has crafty, intelligent, enemies and there's a reason adventurer is the most lethal occupation. Not like Tucker's kobolds, though, just in ways that I feel they should be used. Nets and pit traps ...

Jakandor is the first one that springs to mind. I've not heard of that one. What is it like ? Its basically an island, divided into who rules which side. One of them is occupied by a tribe of spellcasters, primarily using necromancy - the Charonti or something. And the other are barbarian Viking-li...

Re: The Monsters know what they are doing
I have not used that book. One thing I had wanted to do was to provide a sort of "book of lairs" which was to have every monster in M&T presented with three possible setups, to showcase how they might be used and what they might be like. I got about halfway through before the curse struck. I no long...

I once took the clue books from the FR SSI goldbox games (Pools of Radiance, Curse of the Azure Bonds, and Secret of the Silver Blades) and made my own campaign of them, before realizing that the first 2 were official modules. Mine worked better, I think, as it didn't feel like the computer version ...

Re: Half-Elf Empathy bonus
If one assumes the half-elf can subtly detect the intent of the caster, such as "they're trying to deceive me and make me think I'm their friend" then a bonus to CHA saves seems appropriate. If its not, then its not. There would be no adjustment if the half-elf is prohibited from this interaction, l...

Sorry, I no longer have the original tables to correct with and would have to recreate them. As I am no longer doing that sort of thing, it likely will not happen -- unless it has already in a newer print.

Re: Immortals in Myastara?
I tend to make deities' powers based on their constituency modified by their tier. So, a greater god with 100 million worshippers is going to be more potent than a like god with only half as many... but, a lesser goddess with 1 billion followers is a force the greater god is weaker than, at least in...

Re: Do you prefer colour or black and white rpg books?
Depends.
If its a superfluous expense (doesn't really add much) and increases the price, I don't need it. But some are enhanced by color and the price raise does make sense then.
In general, though, B&W interiors with a good cover.

Re: The C&C rule(s) you dislike or ignore...
Like most/all D&D-like games, I ignore encumbrance, XP (I have a slightly different level gain method), tracking GP individually (I use Wealth) and other "abacus mechanisms." If it means having to track it, other than HP and spells, it is likely thrown aside -- that includes most spell components, a...

Re: How do you handle multi-classing?
I ask the player what they want - abilities, when, power level, etc. and then use my system to create a new class for them. If it ends being too powerful, we modify as needed to align with the other players.

Re: Is there the Carrion Crawler in C&C?
When I learned the carrion crawler (along with a few other creatures) were not Open Content and therefore could not be used as-is from AD&D, I made the fleshcrawler as a substitute.
Glad to know it works well for those who like it.

Re: Missing 1st Ed Cleric Spells
I have multiple types of magic-using classes. The type akin to what is in the PHB is the studious sort (wizard) and technically anyone can get their base abilities if they are smart enough or take enough time to train wizardly arts. This is somewhat similar to the class-and-a-half route except it's ...
