I always though adapting the Skill and Weapon Mastery rules from the RC would make an interesting game.

It's getting there for me. I love my old copy of the AWD folio but find the Codex a bit harder to read due mainly to font size...the eyes are not what they used to be these days.... :D

The edition wars ended long ago and I'm glad they are dead and (partially) buried.

I didn't know that C-tard was a thing. Kinda lame
I saw C-Tard during the C&C vs OSRIC dust up years ago. Another thing that I am glad is dead and buried.

Baggage often has your name on it, so you can claim it later.

Oh, no. Wait, that's luggage. And in some places of other worlds, it follows you.
And cause mass extinction.... :D

You're abut 4 years too late to get me in on the edition bashing thing, friend. What ARE you talking about? I simply gave my opinion. Quit projecting. I'm not projecting and using terms like 'Snowflake' pretty much puts you in the same camp as those that used terms like "Turd-Edition" &qu...

Re: Dropping the Baggage

Seriously I would actually consider the above AD&D 3rd over C&C as 3rd as C&C is more akin to the idea of a Gygaxian Second edition in my book. Well Gygax said C&C was his idea of what 3rd should have been... Probably as he had direct input and veto on rules ;) But in any case, the ...

Re: Dropping the Baggage

I was mainly referring to the whole 'we walked uphill naked in snow to school both ways and we liked it' mentality actually but you are right about how gaming worked. I try to keep up on what is going on in the current D&D realm and am just at a loss for words with some of what is going on out ...

Re: A bit of 'heresy'

I like it. Another idea I kicked around was making it a bit more like Earthdawn in that the Winter's Dark wasn't just Unklar and his empire but multiple evil entities that carved the world up and bringing in some pretty terrible things. What we see in the Cradle of the World was just one part of a w...

Nostalgia can become toxic. Very so I have found. Especially when you get into the 'things were better in my day' trap. Oh but they were better back in the day ... no rule bloat, no min making, no meta gaming, no murder hobos, just good fun role playing ... well there was the 2e splat books and com...

My schedule lately has left it to where I am just running canned adventures in canned worlds. I enjoy writing and designing but I just don't have the time. I do scratch the itch my doing small filler adventures or modding what I am running. One day people will have enough pleasure boats and I will g...

I don't post as much as I did in the beginning (2005ish), mainly because a lot of the things have been discussed or answered (with variations). Now I just kind of hang around, keep the peace, and answer a few questions as I'm able. I visit the boards almost everyday though, so it is nice to see mor...

Re: How Many Scenarios?

Gamer ADD...I hate it. My only solution was to put everything but my C&C and campaign stuff away except for a couple books I wanted in the mix ( The 1e DMG for one and a couple reprints of some classic adventures). So now my entire collection of AD&D/D&D material are boxed up in an incon...

Re: Rules that not in C&C. Could they be part of it?

As is well-known around here, I loathe pretty much everything 5e, but as I recall, with advantage/disadvantage you simply roll 2d20 and take the better or worse result depending upon whether you have advantage or disadvantage. Other games, like Shadow of the Demon Lord, have adopted variations of t...

Re: A bit of 'heresy'

You know me, I'm not a HUGE fan of the thousand years of winter dark - no sunlight ice age. No plant or anima would ever survive that. Also, with the different societies (with different pantheons implied), so I'm all about changing the BtB setting/history. However, I think Unklar is a lie goes a st...

Re: Hey There...

NICE, One thing I dislike about Aihrde is the fact they have what 4 or 5 separate cultural feels to the peoples there but only 1 set of deities and the deities don't match the cultures, so I've always kicked around the idea of adding other pantheons. However, I never thought of using the codexes as...

A bit of 'heresy'

As I have been rereading the material I have had a few ideas that I may pursue. They mostly revolve around Unklar. Just for fun I thought I would share them: Unklar was a lie While the empire did exist and did so for a long time; the story of Unklar was a pure fabrication. Part legend and part rally...

Re: Rules that not in C&C. Could they be part of it?

A brief list of what I remember using in the past at various times that are not added spells or monsters:

D20 style attribute modifiers

Advantage/Disadvantage

Target Number system instead of SIEGE

Spell Points

I'm sure there's more but I cannot recall right now.

It's still around though I don't know how good it is these days. As I mentioned before 2000 AD is back as well. I may check some local comic shops and see if I can get a better deal.

Incidentally the Netflix series Love, Death and Robots was rumored to have started as Heavy Metal 3.
