Help me decide

Post by Rigon »

My buddy got me a $60 gift certificate to the TLG Store. I can't make up my mind on what to get. I keep going back and forth over

a) The A0-A5 and A6-A12 box sets (I have A0-A12 in individual form, both print and pdf, and I have the A13-17 box set)
or
b) Codex Germania, Slavorium, and Classicum (I have Ger and Slav in PDF).

Make you arguments or recommend something entirely different. I needs yo hep!

I like the Codices. I think the material is more versatile.

Yeah, that's what I kind of decided after talking to my group last night.

Now the important question is do I want to play in a Celt setting a Viking setting, or a Slavic setting ;)

You can want all you like, it doesn't mean I'll run it. ;)

But in other news, I was looking at my PDFs and I have all of the Codex in PDF format, so I'm going with Germania, Slavorium, and Classicum in print. I'll place my order tonight when I get home.

Did I say "I" ??? that must have been a type o or a slip of the keys … of course I meant you and what ever you want to run

that said, I need to go through my pdfs and see which ones I have myself. Them and all the adventures. I know I have a ton of them on pdf but it has been a while since I made sure what I have.

Why would you limit your world to one of those settings... they all existed.. maybe not in the same place or the same time.. but its easy enough to do what I do. the world is about 900 AD and all the best bits of history, legend, faith, and fantasy (for our gaming purposes) all exist... Norse is up North (some place), Celtic is English Isles and France and the Slavs are down the river into "USSR".

Guys, In history the "vikings" went to all these places, the Danes into Normandy (France), The Norwegians over to Ireland (the Saxons were sort of tough), and the Swedes down the rivers into Russian and slavic areas... they were the Rus... thus the name... the key point, Romans did not conquer the Greek city states and The Jews and if you want them the Christians remain a small local sect... so that the Romans do not conquer and Christianity does not supplant... works for me and seems like it will work for you all... just a thought.

Rgr on the 'historic' settings could be or should be mixed.

Now since you offered, we play Monday nights, use discord for voice, now are doing real dice and theater of the mind, but have used roll 20 & maptools. :D

I ordered the 3 Codex I didn't have. Just had to pay shipping. That's a nice Christmas gift.

I have played on Fantasy Grounds every other Wed... good fun, no dice, but it is still a game.

Monday nights right now are my primary nights to teach tai chi.. so for now, Monday is out for regular games without cancelling class.

I will look into those other forms/tools you note.

How many of you are there?

I know FG has a C&C ruleset, but does it let you modify the rules? For instance, can you add the classes from the Codices, or modify for house rules, etc?

I have played in FG, not run them, I will ask Inferno as he is running in FG. Its a 5e version and close and the classes seem to be as you want them, we have several classes from AB.

You can create your own classes, make them in a module and then they can available across multiple campaigns. Depending on your house rules, simple changes should be easy to implement, more complex ones might require an extension to be created.
