So, I went looking for my old DL game thread, but apparently in the last update it disappeared. Bummer :(

Hmmm, weird.

Was it actually titled DL? I was thinking maybe you renamed it when you started a new game.

Otherwise, perhaps Breakdaddy can poke around for it.

I thought I called it something like Rigon's Sunday night DL or some such, but when I looked back through the online forum (ever single page) I didn't see anything labeled like that. I might just be missing it, but I did notice when I looked at all of my posts, the count was about 100 post short of my post count here.

I just looked through every page here (all 21 of them) and no DL thread. I saw all of my other games (both FR games and my DS one shot), but nary a sign of my DL campaign. Bummer.

The really crappy part is every time I do a search, I find references to the DL game, but can't seem to find any threads containing the actual game.

Not only did I not find it, aside from like 4 other posts mentioning it getting started, I didn't find any game threads started by you prior to 2010. Its a conspiracy!
Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

That's really crappy Rigon.

Is this the old forum to which you refer?

No, that's the old TLG Forums. My game thread was on this Forum. I'm missing about 100 posts (according to the post counter). I'll have to find time to go through all of my posts. All 5800 or so.

So I went looking again and the old DL game thread is definitely gone. I was in the area where the game started and even had a direct reference to the game with a place where a link was obviously place, but it doesn't work any more. Very sad to lose a whole game thread, especially one that ran for about a year.

Have you PM'd the mods to check the backups? It would be odd if 100% of one thread is missing and no other messages are missing

I haven't gone that route yet. Not really sure who to contact for this.

Btw, I poked around and even tried to find the forum before this one . . on freeyabb, but that webhost is gone. However, I think Aramis is one to something. Perhaps, the Trolls have the info (threads and posts from freeyabb) and can perhaps restore the thread.

Hmmm, actually this is fuzzing in my mind that one of my old threads about Yggsburgh or somesuch went missing and someone was able to restore it here.

So . . I'd send a PM to Steve, Breakdaddy and Fife and see if they can help you.

Another btw, that was a great game and I'd love to read the thread again!

Good luck,

Rhu. :)

arcanechimera wrote:Rigon notified me about this missing thread. I can probably look into this. But, it's best to run it by [email protected] or [email protected].

How many threads are missing? Just this one or are there more?

Also, can you give me a list of the urls for these threads that are missing?
I PMed Tim and messaged him on G+. As far as I know, I am only missing the one thread. I can't be sure but I know my post count and post search count are off by about 100, so that leads me to believe that it is the only thread I'm missing. I was a game thread that I was running for about a year, so there would be about 100 posts in it. As for urls, I don't know it. If I did, I'd try to access the thread that way. The name of the thread was something like Rigon's Sunday Dragonlance. It will be the only one started by me for a Dragonlance game.

Anyways, I appreciate any help to fix this issue. It is more of an annoyance than anything, but I'd really like to have that thread back.

I would like to try to track it down in the current database first, though. And the easiest way is to have the url for it (whether it works or not). The data may still be in here somewhere.

If worse comes to worse I have that old backup that I can fish through as well.
You rock, brother! Thanks.

It may have been on an older version of the forum, or it could have been deleted some time back. I'm really not sure.

It definitely didn't disappear in the last update, though. Because it wasn't in the database prior to the update.

I tried everything I could think of. Sorry Rigon! At least the Dragonlance Adaptation Manual is still up.
Thanks for trying.

I know I was looking at 6 to 7 months ago. Maybe a year, but it was still there then. Maybe it disappeared in the backup before the last one.

I was looking through some old files and found my game notes for the DL game. It started sometime around Aug 28, 2007 and ran until around Apr 2008. If that helps anyone.

The thing that is a bit worrying is: what other threads have disappeared? It seems unlikely this is the only one

For posters, most threads are "fire and forget", they post, there is activity for awhile, then it fades. So they would not realise their threads are gone. However, many lurkers use these boards to search for answers to questions/campaign ideas etc. If other threads have also disappeared, these searchers won't realise that the threads to help them have disappeared, and the original posters are not even aware the thread is gone.
