Looking at a delayed start to the game or a possible cancel . . . just opened the windows to cool off the computer room and my neighbors are having a party. Nice people but loud talkers and they just started playing some rowdy drinking game.

So, check back in a half hour or so - or check SKYPE.

Thanks. :)

Session VI - The cavern rooms of the fortress ~ or "Rats and spiders don't bother me . . cause I'll just eat them, you wait and see!*!

The Players:

Aergraith as

Elderberry Scrubroot, the wildly bold and audacious gnome rogue

ssfsx17 as:

Norik, the faithful dwarf cleric
and
Barduris, the enigmatic but absolutely fearless half-orc fighter

Penny as:

Penny-Whistle Scrubroot, the practical and wise gnome cleric who now has the bloodlust up for evil monsters threatening her beautiful planet Jorde!

Gringnr, the mighty dwarf cleric

The action:

The next day, the adventurers wake and gather outside the small cavern room to refresh themselves with a light breakist! It is decided that they shall explore the north cavern first and then later, the south tunnel. As they gather their equipment and ready themselves to leave the stalactite cavern, they notice the remains of the frost naga ~ only the skull and bones are left.

The group leaves the west cavern and continues into the intersection, led by Elderberry and Gringnr. They cautiously go north and find a large cavern room that is inhabited by rats. The rats watch from their hidey-holes. No magic is detected, nor anything observed.

They move carefully to the south cavern and while Elderberry is checking for traps, he spies the spider webs high up in the corner. The group torches it and moves on.

Everyone agrees to head out of the cavern area and to explore the northern curved corridor. They enter the intersection and spot some goblins. Magicks are thrown by the gnomes to cause them to retreat and turn back east.

The party encounters some volts and electrical arcing creatures and then some ogres. A major battle occurs with all creatures fighting for their lives. The adventurers win the day and continue on to the north and then head east in a large corridor.

End session.

"Boiled, broiled or roasted on a spit, it’s all I can do to not have a fit.

I learned this when I was little and wee, from my old granny scrub who sang to me

That morning as Penny watched her adorable pet jumping spider leap out at a passing fly she had a vision. What if ... a person could somehow combine the loyal qualities of a puppy with the beauty of a spider?

Inspired, she attempted a conjuration. The result was interesting but not quite what she imagined. It had the head of a dog. It could spin webs. But Oh My Copperpots the creature sure was yappy! And it only had six legs! Oops. "Nevermind," she thought, "Webster (for that shall be his name) will make a great guard for those times when we need an extra set of eight eyes!" Noticing the discomfort of some of the dwarves she quickly dismissed Webster and diverted their horrifed attention to a batch of really good cookies fresh from the campfire.

Aergraith as

Elderberry Scrubroot, the wildly bold and audacious gnome rogue

ssfsx17 as:

Penny-Whistle Scrubroot, the practical and wise gnome cleric who now has the bloodlust up for evil monsters threatening her beautiful planet Jorde!

The action:

The adventurers cautiously move east and find the hiding area of the guard snow goblins who shot at them when they came down the spiral stairs. The group quickly dispatch the goblin crossbow men.

Moving further east, the group finds a north hallway and an entrance door that differs quite a bit from the usual dungeon doors. Runes are spotted and interpreted. The door is unlocked and opened. Skeleton sentries are spotted, but they are un-moving.

However, one the party enters this chapel like room - warrior skeletons animate and attack.
The clerics move into position and hold out their holy symbols. Many of the undead are turned. Some are not, and the adventurers begin to fight them.

Finally, all undead are defeated. A search is made of the room and a secret door is found. Dwarven runes explain how to open the door. It is carefully opened and the goal of the mission is found ~ The Shield of Odin!

Guys and gals, my wife's long-ailing grandmother passed away Thursday night. I leave for Corpus Christi tonight to be a pallbearer in tomorrow's funeral. I apologize for the last minute notice, but I have been extremely busy. I sincerely apologize for my continued absence, and look forward to getting back on schedule next week. Again, I am very sorry, I should have said something sooner. I greatly appreciate you all making a place for me at your gaming table, and I hope I have not proven to be too much of a disruption.

Here is one of the main saints of Ilmater, Kaelyn the Dove.

Kaelyn the Dove was originally a Celestial (closest thing there is in D&D World to an angel). She was a Doomguide of Kelemvor. Kelemvor was the second Forgotten Realms god of the dead.

But, one day, she saw the Wall of the Faithless. She saw that it was made of the souls of those who had not pledged to any god, and that it tortured them and inflicted great pain until they were nothing more than statuesque faces embedded in the wall. She saw that it was merely a scheme to make peace with the D&D World equivalent of demons - a sort of cowardly peace. So she attacked it, and switched gods from Kelemvor to Ilmater.

Kaelyn introducing herself: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-KP6xkXOVQo

Kaelyn talking about her eyes and other things: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cwcxmKHWLnQ

Kaelyn talking to Myrkul, the first Forgotten Realms god of the dead. Myrkul was the one who built the Wall of the Faithless: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZLAXvh__bUM

Unfortunately there isn't nearly as much material on Lathander - this is the most complete source I could find: http://forgottenrealms.wikia.com/wiki/Lathander

Norik reads and views all of the above as he studies up in the Abbey, and thusly adds a new god and a new saint to pray for. He expects that he will need such patronage to survive in the Underworld.
