We could also use Epic Words. That's not too much easier to maintain but it did have stuff for tracking/splitting loot that looked useful.

Interesting session. Is the Paladin's daughter in on the assassinations or is she a prisoner? Are the were-rats involved or are they a random encounter? Did the assassins go into the sewers or was that a ruse?

Kayolan and I came up with a solution, of sorts, for the Darkness versus Light spells in C&C.

Continual Darkness, Level 3, All Classes
CT: 1 R: 5 ft. D: Permanent
SV: None SR: Yes Comp: V, S, M

A Dark Flame, that usually cannot be seen, except with the help of very specific magics, equivalent in Darkness to a "torch" (IE 40 foot Radius affect), springs forth from an object that the character touches. It consumes nothing, and has no temperature. It can be covered and hidden, but not "put out" except with a Dispel Magic, or spells of similar affect and higher level than Dispel Magic, or by being countered with Continual Flame cast by a Cleric or Illusionist (3rd level versions only). The Material Component is either a 50 GP of Obsidian or Onyx, the darker black, the better.

We came up with this because as written in C&C, the 2nd level Darkness spell is pretty weak. So this version gives a more powerful version. The Material Component was added because we felt a Permanent duration spell shouldn't be "free" to cast. Especially since it is also such a sale-able spell. It would also be a good idea to add a Component to Continual Flame as well. I would suggest a 50 GP Sunstone or Yellow Topaz or Yellow Sapphire.
Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

Was there some dragon errata you found that needs to be in the M&T revision?

The only thing I can think of is breath weapons. It needs to be made clear what each dragon's breath weapon is, either a line or a cone. And I think they should get full HD as a bonus to attack as opposed half HD.

For anyone interested, the following link is to the D20 OGL PDF's I mentioned last night. They are on sale for $2.00 each for 3 more days.

Now I am not saying these are great books in terms of errata or even game balance. I am just saying, that with a little practice, it is so easy to convert D20 to C&C that you can use these as your basis for using the SIEGE engine to run a game related to every one of the genre's covered by these PDF's...

Thanks, I was going to ask about those.

Great game guys. Especially the Gelatinous Cubes & thief sandwich! I was hoping the warerat questioning would go a bit different than it did, but what can you do ... except throw the trash out in the sewage ;-)

look forward to the next game!

Hey guys, just a heads up. Tree was taken to the ER on Friday and is heading into surgery early this week, so will be out of loop for a while. I will try to run my game every week until he is feeling up to running games again. Unless someone would like to run a filler game opposite of me until he returns.

I thought it was a bit odd that he wasn't able to post yesterday. It is really sad how many medical problems Treebore (and his wife) have had to endure over the years. Hopefully all is soon well and he is back to gaming again.

I hope you got a lot of prepping done last night Rigon

Yeah, Tree is usually good about letting us know when something happens and I'm hopping he gets well soon.

I got some, but I still need to get some more finished. I'll work on it again tonight after the Mrs goes to bed. As for future session, we may be playing it by ear.

Maps are set up, stocked with adversaries, just need to flesh out NPCs. Then I need to start thinking about what's next.

That's easy, we have a few missteps, I fall into the sewers at least once more, we find the girl, I fall into the sewers at least once more, we kill the bad guys, bring the family back to life, I fall into the sewers at least once more, and then we settle in for a well deserved breakfast

I can't hit much with no strength and a cleric's bth, even with a +4 sword, and my AC is 19 with a +0 dex, and I am out of spells, such as they are.
Still, if you send two more waves at us, so be it. We just need to be smart and keep an escape route open.

Yeah, strong tactics are going to be needed in order to have a chance for every PC to survive. I spent a far amount of time tonight trying to figure out how to make Elena meaningful in combat. I'm thinking the party is better served of she stays behind the lines and ensures none of the front line falls in combat.

Good session. That was a bit dicey there, especially when I involuntarily decided to imitate a statue of a handsome valorous elf.* Hopefully next session Treebore can join us as a player and then we will really take it to them. Heaven knows what would happen if we threw a Jaybirdian gnome into the mix

We are really going to have egg on our faces if the girl isn't here. If so we have killed all these assassins and evil wizards for nothing!

Prepare yourselves for wave two in 3....2...1...

*-note to self. Have statue of Aeschelon made and placed in the town square ;)
