The thread title pretty much lays it out; I've checked the Players Handbook and the CKG and can't seem to find anything on this. Although I think it'd be pretty reasonable to state that, whatever the C&C rules on this might be, they're within a stone's throw of the first-edition DMG, I'd still like to see the official written points on this. Any indications as to where to look?
All thanks for replies/considerations given to this. Hopefully see everyone on soon.
P.S. Ha-ha stuff like writing "It's been hidden behind a series of clues, each more fiendishly clever than the last," may get a couple of giggles from the crew here, but won't be solving the problem any time soon. And I'll cry. I swear I'll cry.

As far as I can tell, there aren't any.

Re: Intelligent magic swords - where are the guidelines?
Rigon, thank you! I knew I'd seen the damn thing at some point, but had totally blanked out on where it was; had been making the (obviously) incorrect association that what's in the DMG would be replicated in the CKG.
So, once again life can move on and (as stated in Macbeth) "the time is free." Again, enjoying Tome of the Unclean(I mean that in a good way), and hoping Monsters & Treasure fifth printing is due to come out soon; I'd really like to get me some full-colour orcs and other assorted humanoids to fill in the fantasy-world ecology...although they really do nothing but raid and plunder. I honestly can't picture orcs getting involved in productive agriculture.

Re: Intelligent magic swords - where are the guidelines?
Interesting, so that's not in the original Monsters & Treasure, 1st printing.
Re: Intelligent magic swords - where are the guidelines?
I was wrong, in fact it IS in the first printing of Monsters & Treasure, starting on page 89, "Sentient Magic Items".
