I haven't had much time to read the journal. I've been too spellbound by the map!

Wow! That is one glowing review!

I agree, it is gorgeous and packed!

I need to see if James is willing to work out a deal with a certain laminating business who specializes in supporting the gamer community.

Yeah, love the map - which is one of the things I enjoy most from a product even over art. Great review to. Mind if I use it for the Booty List? (think I may change how I do reviews on the site, rather then link to forums and such, have pages on the site that they are linked to)

'Tis a great map, but why work out some kind of deal with a laminating company? Unless you just mean for a specific discount for AGP's materials, because honestly while I plan on having this map laminated, the original, textured copy is awesome.

Because if James works out a contract with them: http://www.gamer-printshop.com/

They print it out AND laminate, so I get to keep the original and get another laminated version for about $3.00 more. So for about $8.00 (plus shipping) I would have a second laminated copy.

Thats why.

Treebore,

The problem with working out such a deal is that the printer would get the lion's share of the profit. Unfortunately, with the niche market as it is, this is the reason I decided to go direct to the consumer rather than through distribution and retail (the way things are today, I'd lose 70% of the MSRP to get a product on a store's shelf, not to mention the costs of shipping).

However, if you want to laminate a copy, I have a limited number of unfolded maps available; I had intended to sell them as convention exclusives, but with the way the economy is going, I'll be lucky to be at Gen Con this year, let alone any of the smaller conventions, so I'll be putting up a page to sell the unfolded maps. Probably $12 each ($9 for subscribers on the first copy), plus shipping (which would include the cost of a mailing tube). You easily have that laminated anywhere.

Did you read their "general agreement"?

It seemed to read to me they made most of their money on the part that would be your publishing cost. IE they charge what you want, then add what their fee is.

IF you haven't you may want to talk to them about it. I don't think they do anything to rip of the "creator".

Going to a place and having ones own laminating done is, methinks, the best bet. Not everyone is going to want their map laminated. This way, there is a choice.

I agree. Having a place that you can order the map, they print it out and laminate it, then mail it to your house, is just another choice. Considering I live 40 to 60 minutes away from the nearest locations to get lamination done, its a good choice for me. Shipping is even cheaper than the gas.

Since it takes over 3 gallons of gas for me to go each way, over 7 gallons total.

Hey James, any chance of some being available at LGGC this June?

Probably; even if I am not able to make it to the show, hopefully the Trolls will sell my products for me. But at this time I can make no guarantees.

Oh yes, that is the plan. The next one should be Map 5 (old Map 1) the City State itself. That's after the Rhadamanthia Continental Map and the Western Karak Map. The Roglaras, aka the Lands of the City State, are planned as the second Campaign Installment and Gazetteer.
