On topic, I have to say I'm happy Mike (Sieg) and I are working on Halls of Adventure for TLG.

We were collaborating on Essential Places, and the opportunity to work with Gary, even for just a little while, was mindblowing. However, Mike and I worked within a very specific set of guidelines, and we had specific material we had to start with. That's all been scrapped, as we develop our own model for Halls of Adventure.

I can't speak for Mike, but I am looking forward to completing Halls of Adventure with a LOT more latitude, creativity, and freedom as Steve is allowing us to expand the "scope" of what is covered.

In the end, I think the book will be even more useful than EP would have been, much more geared toward C&C use, and probably a lot more fun to write, even though it's not under Gary's supervision. Sure, we lose the opportunity to have a GFW product, but we gain the chance to produce a kick-ass piece of work for TLG and C&C.

As interested as I am about MT2 & the CKG, I'm also curious where C&C Basic falls in all this.

Hopefully, like Steven mentioned earlier he will roll out a general idea what the future plans are for TLG products other then CKG, M&T2, etc. I'm interested in S&S and what that will bring to the TLG lines, but like the big man Hara, hopefully we'll know more about C&C Basic. Though, it all sound good from here on out.

Halls of Adventure - well we don't know much about it yet, but if it is along the lines of Essential Places (and if I may theorize here, will be alot more then what EP was slated to be anyway), that will be a good book for sure.

This whole thing about CZ really saddens me, and I'm sorry this happened. Gary chose to work with the Trolls and Jeff and C&C and now that's not the case, and I'm as miffed as anyone.
However, I'm hopeful this loss of CZ will allow for more time/resources to be put towards making better C&C products (layouts, editing, etc) that are on shelves in more timely fashion. This has been pretty frustrating for me as a consumer over the years with products that still are not out, and the ones that do come out after all the time spent waiting are riddled with layout/editing problems/errors.
The BLOG post yesterday keeps me hopeful in that sense, so you guys will continue to have my support if you can turn some things around. Looking forward to the M&T2, and especially the CKG

Just an off the top of the head thought here. What about getting a partnership up with AGP and working out a deal to do C&C reprints of older Judges Guild material? It would help James in his current situation, let TLG keep some 'Old School' cred and replace CZ with something that could be far more awesome.

That's a pretty accurate description. "Places" will mean a lot more in Halls of Adventure than it would have in EP. EP, as a GFW book, was fairly generic and very focused. We can turn up the heat in Halls of Adventure and roll out some things that aren't as mainstream.

I am sad to hear that the two entities have parted ways, but I'm one of those guys that has always been more interested in C&C itself than the Gygax stuff. Don't get me wrong, I love Gary and his work. I guess because I was oblivious to the whole Castle Greyhawk situation in my early days I never really became interested in it later on. Still, C&C seems like the spiritual offspring of 1e and seemed like a natural fit for the conversion of Gary's older material. Ah well, everyone has their reasons for doing what they did.

That being said, it seems this situation will free up the bottle-neck, so to speak. I'm eager to see what is coming down the TLG pipeline. I love the Haunted Highlands. I'm curious about this "Sword & Sorcery" business... if you watch some of the YouTube videos, Steve mentions that they had a "Sword & Sorcery" line back before d20/3e was announced...

Don't get too excited, Grimm. DD happens to be a 10 time world champion of the WSTA (Weasal Stuffing in Trousers Association) and I hear he's in training at the moment.

Hey! Don't judge him! There's precious little to do in his neck of the woods and weasels make great accessories for the well equipped prison gaurd...

Same deal, bigger pants. But of course, while ferrets, minks and other members of the weasal family can be substituted for actual weasals, goats are not legal in official WSTA events, only in non-affiliated regional events (where anything pretty much goes, as the infamous 'Rabid Wombat' fiasco of 1972 goes to show).

Oh, and goats play C&C, not 4e, when 'pantsed...'

I wouldn't mind seeing some the old JG stuff republished and expanded upon myself.

I third that emotion. I'd love to see the Inferno finished and Tegal Manor reborn, but this time, with Erol Otus and/or Peter Bradley art...
