Re: Kickstarter - Digest, etc.
Clarification: From what i understand the C&C Classic Basic White Box Set included with this KS is not a reprint of the earlier C&C White Box; it is it's own thing. That's kinda why I am excited about this KS. I love the original C&C White Box, but it needs a new coat of paint, a bit of ...

Re: Expert or Master Works
I use expert craft and greater expert craft items, armor, weapons extensively in my games - even more than magic items in many cases. I've definitely ruled that magic items don't need to be of expert craft or greater expertcraft in order to be magical. The thought is the magic upgrades the equipment...

Usually 5% of the XP the NPC would have based on class level with 1st level NPCs about 50 XPs.

Re: A couple of rules questions
Few make a magical club or masterwork club or such.. I used this same argument during a campaign once and was assaulted with a bevy of pictures and historical accounts that clubs are probably the most widely used hand weapon in the history of mankind, and that cultures would certainly have made bet...

Re: A couple of rules questions
Another rule we added for clubs was that any roll of a natural 1 or roll somehow reduced to 1 or lower results in a broken club. In addition, since we use critical hits in our games clubs don't ever get critical hits.

Re: A couple of rules questions
The third one is about the spell Shillelagh: according to the description, it "allows" the enchanted club to deal 1d6+1 damage, which should actually be the normal weapon damage, according to the equipment table... so... is there a typo somewhere? :D The typo is in the equipment table; cl...

Snagged my reg for GCXI so I plan on attending. Not sure if I am going to run anything or not. I tend to go and play as much as I can. But maybe, just maybe. I played in Anc's game last year and had a great time. Probably the best 4-hour game I played in the entire weekend. I very much look forward ...

Best ON SCREEN dragon.
With the recent discussion of bad fantasy films, let's change it up and and discuss your favorite dragon that has appeared on screen in movies, or television. I'm going to go with the vicious Hungarian Horntail dragon that Harry Potter faces in the Goblet of Fire movie (HP4). The special FX for Harr...

Re: Worst fantasy movie ...
If you look on Netflix, there are scores of low-budget, campy, awful fantasy movies out there. Many of these were direct to video, SyFy nonsense, and the like. Until you have seen some of THOSE gems, there is no way anybody could consider Conan The Destroyer, DragonSlayer, or the like the worst fant...

I'm a yearly GaryCon attendee, but I am not sure if we met. I go by the terrestrial name Derrick, and pretty much only play C&C and OSR games while at the con. I sometimes wear a sombrero... at GaryCon. If I have played a game with you, great to see you again. If I haven't (the rainbow glasses k...

Re: Whats changed?
For the main books, there is little to no changes other than cosmetic for the current PHB, M&T, and CKG. I couldn't speak for any other book in the C&C line. M&T is getting a redo pretty soon (2019?) where TLG is going to combine the M&T, Classic Monsters, as well as monsters that ha...

Re: Castles & Crusades - Barbarian Intimidation
These are strictly my takes on the ability, and how I have or will play it when these questions come up. Though I try to go by the book, or by the spirit of the book rulings as much as possible. 1.) When the barbarian refuses to attack an intimidated enemy, or simply misses their roll to hit, the ef...

Re: Castles & Crusades - Barbarian Intimidation
Per the 7th Printing of the C&C PHB : INTIMIDATE (CONSTITUTION): Barbarians offer an imposing display of ferocious raw power. They instinctively realize that victory lies in the wine-besotted, soft demeanors of their foe and that brute force works best when combined with overwhelming terror. Bar...

Re: Advanced Labyrinth Lord Kickstarter
I'm a fan of Labyrinth Lord, and I backed the hell out of this KS. For the most part, I believe the base Labyrinth Lord + Advanced Edition Companion combined book will be virtually identical to the previous edition, just all contained in a single tome. Dan Proctor isn't going to change anything, tha...

Re: CKG "PUSH"
As per the RAW, no damage is caused with a PUSH combat manuever. However, I could see normal punch damage being added in there as well. If the STR check is failed, the defender of the push attack is pushed back 1-10 feet. For me, 1d10 is rolled. 1-5 the defender is pushed back 5' (or 1 square). 6-10...

Persimmon, if you're up at Weird Realms post a note up at that store that you are looking to run or play in a game. They'll hook you up. There's a few groups in that immediate area. If you are in the Ohio area, there is a good little (about 700 attendees) gaming convention called Con-On-The-Cob (Richfield OH). http://cononthecob.com/ November 8-11, 2018. I picked up the English edition of the The Grey Witch: Record of the Lodoss War. It's a novelization of the first handful of episodes of the classic OVA from the 90s. I think we're cut from the same cloth for the most part. I certainly cannot come up with such a well-defined CKing style as you, but I think I follow many of the same concepts. The one thing that I LOVE to do as a player is count details hard. Resource management to me as a player is key, and I love...

Origins is alright. It certainly has had it's ups and downs, and was pretty damn good in the early 2000s. But a lot of Origin's thunder was stolen by GenCon. Now that GenCon is a mighty behemoth that some gamers are looking to get away from (like me), Origins seems to be on the upswing for the past ...

Re: When something is declared "dead"...
When it has mattered, any character that became dead (spells, effects, etc.) also reduced their HP down to -10 if the description of said ability or effect didnt specifically state what happens to HP. Otherwise, -10 HP and any ability score reduced to 0 (in my games) also makes the character dead. ~O
