Re: Great Scimitar

The prints prior to the 6th all list the Great Scimitar as a two-handed weapon, noted by the use of an asterisk. The asterisk for the Great Scimitar is missing from the 6th and 7th prints, and I know I didn't call for its removal. I never would have noticed it without seeing this thread as I use the...

Re: Cleric Spells

The current printing of "Of Gods & Monsters" has unique spells for each pantheon and, I believe, each deity. So it is possible to vary up the spell lists with some unique spells. Doing so with spells of your own creation is perfectly feasible. Go for it.

Why not undead or elementals? Both have defined backs while the oozes don't.

Re: Star Treck RPG

The problem with the core rulebook, as has been pointed out in some reviews in the past, is it's a bit overwritten. For an example, spending a point of momentum in the rulebook says you buy 1d20 and the d20 is treated as rolling a 1. It would have been easier for Modiphius to write that spending a p...

Re: Question / Discussion about Delay Poison

Simply for bookkeeping reasons as the CK I would ding the imbiber of the potion when the next interval comes up after the potion's effect ends. Otherwise I have to keep track of everyone individually, which would be a pain. While the potion is in effect of course there is no damage.

Re: Magic Dragons

Dorf has it right. Creatures with spellcasting ability get the special for each "breakpoint" in spell levels. Thus a spellcasting dragon able to cast 9th level spells would receive a Type I, Type II, and Type III special. As to not being satisfied with dragons, my solution wasn't to beef up their sp...

Like I said, I may have read too much into what he was saying. At the same time, he was there first and yet even today I get the vibe that he feels marginalized. Whether that vibe I'm getting is because of the editing work done to the book or something else entirely I don't know. What I do know is t...

What others have done after, I don't know as I haven't paid any attention. A lot of negativity in the sentence above, but maybe I'm reading too much into it. Anyway, when it came to hit dice I left them as is with a couple of exceptions. One exception was because of a typo. The other was yellow mol...

The stats and description of both Githyanki and Githzerai are product identity. The names Githyanki and Githzerai are copyrighted as they appear in a George R. R. novel. So the names cannot be used at all. Regardless of the name you can create your own version of a given creature so long as it is fu...

Re: Kickstarter - Digest, etc.

I use WinRAR, but I didn't have a recovery record in my RAR files at the time. That has since been corrected.

It's not a huge deal as I still have PDFs of the White Box to work from. It just means I get to do things over again.

Re: Kickstarter - Digest, etc.

The thing I noticed in the Kickstarter isn't the digest books. They are reprinting the White Box set - which the Kickstarter refers to as C&C Classic - and then offering a limited edition Advanced C&C Classic box including the books from the Adventurer's Backpack. I'd like to see those booklets get ...

The third one is about the spell Shillelagh: according to the description, it "allows" the enchanted club to deal 1d6+1 damage, which should actually be the normal weapon damage, according to the equipment table... so... is there a typo somewhere? :D The typo is in the equipment table; club damage ...

Exactly my point. You don't want to declare a magic item as "weightless" but "nearly weightless".

Re: Whats changed?

If we're talking about the basic books and not just the CKG, the biggest change made in Monsters & Treasure is correcting the XP values of every single monster in the book. The second biggest change was to fix the armor and shields tables so they actually worked. Most monster and magic descriptions ...

The page increase is due to changing the font size from 9 to 12. Lots of grammar and mechanics fixes for the optional rules in the book, but I don't recall adding anything new.

EDIT: To clarify, I was talking about the Castle Keepers Guide above.

The theoretical object doesn't have any inertia. A magic weapon could however have inertia from being swung, if that helps.

Re: Encumbrance

Well, a weightless item, by the book, still has an encumbrance value because it has length, width, and height. Since it still has its shape, it must have mass. A weightless item may still have mass, but if the object is not affected by gravity at all due to magic, its mass is irrelevant. The pull of...

Re: Sample Deity Description From A Codex?

The druid has been stereotyped, thanks to an imperfect understanding of the druid's role in society. In 1973 the trend was that the druids held rituals in henges, not knowing the henges were for astronomical observation. The stereotypical druid and historical druid are nothing alike.

Re: Sample Deity Description From A Codex?

While in game terms we focus on their divine powers, druids were the professional caste of Celtic society. Sone druids were lawyers while others were physicians. Others were political advisors and lorekeepers. Thus not all druids were priests. Celtic druids would be granted powers from a Celtic deit...

Re: Sample Deity Description From A Codex?

The problem with the DDG is that it focused on game details. You didn't actually get much of the history of the deity. Supplement IV was even worse, being nothing but stats. The Codices, as I understand it, don't focus on game details since deities are more forces of nature than an enemy to be kille...
