He's gaming on a higher plane now. A good gamer gone too soon.
Heavy sigh.

Re: Gary Con IX March 2017
As per the request of forum members, I've waited until we're closer to GaryCon to call for GMs. Now it's time for me to register the tournaments and my GMs. I need to submit a list of GMs to get them in free. I put out the call and have got a couple willing to run a few rounds. Putting the call out ...

Re: Gary Con IX March 2017
Event registration for GaryCon 9 begins September 10th, 2016. This is a call to action for C&C or 1st Edition AD&D GMs. I'm tournament coordinator for GaryCon 9. Run 3 tables for me and I'll get you in the convention for free. Run 5 tables and you'll get a GaryCon GM shirt and cup with drink...

Adventures should contain a variety of different encounters of different difficulties be they creatures, traps, puzzles, riddles, role playing situations like negotiations, unusual terrains, weather conditions, etc. Changing things up keeps players guessing which maintains interest and rekindles tha...

Re: Original C&C members database and Excel Spreadsheet
Upon reflecting on the many people who have been involved in the history of C&C and how that should be reflected in KOTC standings, I feel it's important to emphasize that for KOTC what people can and are willing to do to make it better is the deciding factor in how successful it will or won't b...

Re: Original C&C members database and Excel Spreadsheet
Hey, Brian - Very slow to respond but I finally got around to going to the webpage and entering my data. Sorry to hear that my Marshall title has been taken away in the great title revamp. My Earldom was my C&CS title but the Marshall was based on being an original playtest group, if that matte...

Re: Power Gamers & Rules Lawyers
Discussing power gamers and rules lawyers is a touchy subject so I'll avoid it for now except to say the following... There are many power gamers out there. In fact they're the majority with a significant percentage of the overall gaming society. As an advocate of balance between role playing and st...

Re: Gary Con IX March 2017
Yes, the C&C room would be more appropriately called the TLG room. The intent is to fill it with any/all TLG games we can, not just C&C! Sorry if I didn't clarify that, thought I had mentioned it earlier...

Re: Message for all C&CS and KOTC members
Seconding what Rigon and Googleplex just wrote... C&CS and KOTC also provide a way to find gamers in your area or for online gaming, a resource for new or upcoming gaming materials such as new adventures, classes, monsters, magic items, spells, etc. as well as a place to submit your own material...

Re: Message for all C&CS and KOTC members
We're dealing with a rules light old school gaming product and becoming involved with C&C means you're taking a different road. It's a tough gritty system. Clerics aren't Pathfinder healing batteries, you're not going to be having great cleave by 5th level, etc. It's what I like. The gamers I'v...

Re: Message for all C&CS and KOTC members
RPGA supported D&D which was huge at the time. Pathfinder Society supports Pathfinder which is huge now. DMs Guild supports D&D in any edition while promoting 5th edition (wonder if they got that idea from Gary Con since it was all about D&D but people ran whatever edition they wanted fo...

Re: Message for all C&CS and KOTC members
The C&CS has tried a few things before -- it had its own forums, its own chat area, its own "everything." It flopped, and [highly likely] that was my fault. There have always been passionate people to get involved and it is their backs that bear the Atlas. If following the footsteps o...

I disagree with Rhuv. You are both equally blessed in creative abilities. One as a GM. One as a writer. Both seek to entertain the audience and both have succeeded! Congrats to you both as a team. I hope to see Alicia's work in print and your work in running my tournament games!

Re: Invisible Illusion
You do bring up an interesting point, which I think, is the strength of illusionists and makes them both fun to play and competitive with other classes - layering illusions. When I run or GM illusionists, I layer illusions so if one is seen through, another is seen, etc. before determining the reali...

Re: Sample Scoring system for C&CS/KOTC Convention Games
That actually doesn't sound like a bad idea at all, and I really do like the idea of awarding good role play and teamwork as well as simple strategy. There's a part of me me that almost thinks we should offer the players a chance to rate the CK so that he or she might realize areas for improvement,...

Re: Sample Scoring system for C&CS/KOTC Convention Games
I'd hate to go to an event, and have someone at the table say I was the worst at something, even if I was. It sort of reminds me of those "360" reviews they do at some companies, which usually end up with a lot of hurt feelings. My suggestion would be to call out the outstanding things, p...

Busy working on numerous start up KOTC projects otherwise I'd love to sit in on a game you CK. Hope to see you running a table or three at Gary Con next year. Sample Scoring system for C&CS/KOTC Convention Games
Glad to hear you're running C&C games at a convention! :) We need more people doing that. Thanks for telling me since I'm compiling a list of conventions C&CS/KOTC members attend to create a national database of C&C events at hobby shops and conventions (in the works). How are you scorin...

Cool. Does it have me (Finarvyn) as Lord Marshall and Earl of Stone Creek? The call for Gary Con 9 GMs is still open! I've received zero PMs from C&C GMs about events for Gary Con 9 though I know from past years that at least a dozen TLG board member GMs attend Gary Con annuallly and run an average of 3 events each. John Wright, speak up. I'm calling on your group to s...
