Re: Hope you all had a Happy Thanksgiving
I managed to get both stepchildren to celebrate with us via Zoom. We had a good time talking and eating together, for a while there it seemed that the miles were not separating us.

Movies you liked that nobody else did.
So as the title says what movies did you like that other people called terrible but you have to admit that you at least didn't despise as much. I will start. Conan the Destroyer: So I kind of like this movie. It isn't as good as the first one Conan the Barbarian but considering that the first movie ...

Re: Worst fantasy movie ...
Is there hate for Dragonslayer on this thread?! Decent acting, good story, and in my mind hands-down the best dragon ever envisioned for the screen. I might go with that old standby Krull - totally flat performances, misfired effects, slow pace, just a hard slog. Honorable mention, though, to Jacks...

Re: What are you reading?
I audio book format, Treasure Island, The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde and Kidnapped. I only read the second in Jr. High and never the other two before. I liked the first two but Kidnapped felt too much a story of its time.

Looking for players for online AA game.
I have a game starting on Tuesday around 5 p.m. CST on Discord every Tuesday. I was running a Conan D20 game but that system was too crunchy for me. It will be set in 1930's New Orleans but will probably go around the world. Right now tentatively I have an Acrobat and a Gunslinger. Let me know if yo...

So can I get a rundown on what characters are playing in the upcoming BASH game? I want to know this so that I will know what I am up against.

Re: Ne'er-do-Wells – BASH
Steve Stevenson leaned back in his chair and took a drag of his Marlboro cigarette. He glanced over at the picture of his wife, now gone 30 years now. There were other women but they never lasted, they couldn't compare with her and eventually he just game up trying. He instead committed himself to h...

Re: My failure at a horror game
I know what you mean though. As a GM I am my own worst critic, which I think is kind of a good thing. The worst kind of GM is the conceited type that can't accept criticism and blames the players when the game goes bad.

You can also use the earlier editions of D&D material for C&C. I used the 1st edition Monster Manual for my first game and then later used the 2nd edition Monstrous Manual because that is my favorite MM for the game. All you have to do is flip the AC.

Re: My failure at a horror game
I had a lot of fun. Yeah there were times that I wished that I was playing say a Gumshoe instead of a Pugilist since I didn't have a lot of investigative skills but it just forced me to think outside the box. Horror can be tricky since most of the horror movies that we grew up on had a body count an...

The reason I was asking about their level is because you stated that one of them cast a fireball spell which is far beyond 1st level.

Re: Monday Night Ne'er-do-wells Sci Fi
Okay, I agree that even though I like TOS, the whole idea of senior officers going on away missions didn't make any sense to me. The point I was trying to make is that the rules do allow you to play something other than crewmen straight out of the academy.

Re: Doctor Sleep – basis for a modern game
I tend to categorize movies like this at Urban Fantasy. It is not horror but there are horror elements in the story. The scene with the Baseball Boy was very disturbing, it did a very good job of showcasing how evil the true knot is. They are,as Danny's friend said, not people. Buffy, Charmed, Angel ...
